At Hlumisa Rural Health Foundation, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of our rural community with-in the OR Tambo district of Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Through our research-driven and community-engaged initiatives, we aim to build sustainable models of healthcare delivery that can be replicated in other areas.
Our team is composed of professionals and volunteers who share a passion for bringing quality healthcare to those who need it most.
WOMAN HEALTH CLINIC
Early screening, intervention and care
Funding projects are currently underway to build a new onsite Woman’s clinic that will offer contraception services, safe abortion facilities, rape and GBV counseling and screening for breast and cervical cancer. This new center will improve the services offered by Isilimela Hospital and ensure the women of our community receive the best possible care.

Helping Those in Need
Optimal health care depends on a good relationship with your doctor and clinical team. As many of the staff at Isilimela do not speak IsiXhosa it is imperative that we support the training of medical translators to ensure accurate information and care is given to patients. Hlumisa Rural Health Foundation is determined to fund the training of translators for Isilimela Hospital.
COMMUNITY GARDEN
Practical rehabilitation
Hlumisa Rural Health foundation hopes to develop a garden space that can be used by the rehabilitation team at Isilimela hopes to offer practical sessions for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. We hope to help these individuals learn practical skills through the programs run in this rehabilitation garden.
EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES
Creating Change
By partnering with local artisans Hlumisa Rural Health foundation allows individuals to sell their wares online. In time we hope to develop this into a digital entrepreneurship programme but for now profits from the wares sold go to the artists and to our ongoing projects
